Have you heard of grounding? Until recently in our evolutionary process, humans spent most of their time in contact with the ground, or what people are calling these days, grounding.
Whether it was lying down on the ground to sleep, walking barefoot or playing in the mud, our bodies were one with Mother Earth. Unfortunately, if you are like me, chances are that you cannot even remember the last time you were walking barefoot outside of your home.
New research shows that skin to Earth contact has an effect on the health of the human body. In fact, as reported in the Journal of Environmental and Public Health: “It is an established, though not widely appreciated fact, that the Earth’s surface possesses a limitless and continuously renewed supply of free or mobile electrons … Mounting evidence suggests that the Earth’s negative potential can create a stable internal bioelectrical environment for the normal functioning of all body systems. Moreover, oscillations of the intensity of the Earth’s potential may be important for setting the biological clocks regulating diurnal body rhythms, such as cortisol secretion.”
Direct contact with the ground allows the Earth’s particles to react with our energy field, creating some interesting changes internally. Your body functions best when it has an adequate supply of electrons. Stealing these electrons from the Earth has an antioxidant effect on the body, decreasing inflammation and promoting optimal health.
